Similar to Palm Pre, wireless charging comes for iPhones also. PowerMat Inc. is set to launch this week a charging jacket for iPhone 4 that connects to the device with the standard 30-pin connector and charging is done without any wire. You just need to drop the iPhone on the “Mat” provided for initiating a charge. This technology of charging gadgets is called Touchstone.

The receiver of the Powermat is made up of hard case of plastic and it is slightly bulky when fixed to the iPhone. Well, the iPhones are so thin that even a little bulk still looks like other smartphones. At the bottom, the case has a Micro USB port along with 2 openings for your speakers. On the left side is the open area which fits the mute and volume controls of the iPhone 4. Even the top of the case is uncovered for the openings of headphone jack and power. The camera and the flash areas are also exposed on the back. The bottom in the inside of the case is the dock connector for the iPhone. It helps in transferring the charge to the handset from the receiver.

Ideally, the batteries should have such technology and we only need to buy the Mats because technology exists and it is only required to build them as the jacket is to be removed everytime if we want to synchronize with the iTunes. This is something irritating.
