Evo 3D HTC has become the first handset in the US with a glass free 3D screen. With Sprint as its carrier, does Evo 3D inspires enough? Check out our exclusive HTC Evo 3D review to know what the phone has in store for you.

3D HTC Evo Design

The design of the phone is simple yet attractive. The mono-block form coupled with rounded edges makes the phone look impressive. The phone is quite big and is longer than wide which means that it fits easily into the hand. The phone is quite bulky weighing 170 grams. The massive screen and the black metal frame give it a chic look. The phone is made entirely out of plastic and the diagonal lines give it a nice texture.  It feels solid while being gripped and the top and the sides have nice finish. There are a lot of similarities between the design of Evo 3D and Evo 4G. HTC has once again done a great job in giving a great look and touch to the phone.

HTC Evo 3D Display

The screen of the new HTC Evo 3D is truly outstanding. The 4.3 inches qHD screen is gorgeous and is perfect for looking calendar, sharing photos, playing games and watching YouTube videos. The screen delivered crisp and bright pictures and the texts looked very sharp. The screen also offered vibrant colors and fine details pretty well. Similar to the screen of LG Optimus 3D, the screen of Evo 3D give glass free stereoscopic effect thanks to the parallax barrier technology. The 3D effects are quite good and we were quite impressed by the overall performance of the display of the phone.

HTC Evo 3D Apps

You will find several inbuilt applications in your HTC Evo 3D phone. One gets the beautiful weather application, along with Friend Stream and Peep for social networking.  Some of the other applications include:

  • Google Search
  • Gmail
  • Google Talk
  • Picasa Integration
  • Youtube
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Document viewer

Sprint also brings in a lot of its own application such as Sprint Mobile Wallet, Sprint Radio, Nascar, Sprint TV & Movies. Some of the third party apps include Polaris Office, Qik Video etc. Users can download their favorite apps from the Android market.

HTC Evo 3D Features

HTC Evo 3D model runs on Android 2.2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system and very much like the Sensation 4G for T-Mobile you will find four shortcuts which launches apps at a go. The 1.2 GHz dual core processor is great for playing games on the phone and with internal memory storage of 1GB, you can store a huge amount of data in the phone. The memory can be increased to 32GB and with HTC’s Sense 3.0, you can do several things. It helps you to provide helpful widgets on 7 customizable home screens. The lock screen is quite impressive because of the customization options accessible by the sense UI.

HTC Evo 3D Keyboard

The phone has a virtual QWERTY keyboard and the keyboard added a capability similar to that of Swype – Trace. With the help of this feature users can draw a line between letters and quickly type. This is helpful while typing in portrait mode. One may find the keys a little cramped as the display is bit narrower. The keys provided a subtle haptic feedback and we found the keyboard to be quite decent.

HTC Evo 3D Gallery

You will find the 3D contents being displayed in the image gallery. The gallery stacks photos similar to that of Android one and the album application automatically locates the images and videos. You can easily share the photos by either Bluetooth or email. You can also post the photographs on social networking site like Facebook and Twitter.

HTC Evo 3D Camera Quality

Camera comprise of an important aspect of the specs of Evo 3D. The phone has a couple of 5MP snappers which is capable of capturing 2D photos of resolution measuring 2560×1920 pixels. The interface of the camera is very efficient and the photos captured are bright and efficient. The dual LED flash is quite efficient while clicking photos in dark. The colors are quite sharp and the contrast is also very good. The camera comes with advanced features such as face detection and geo tagging. We were a bit let down by the fact that the 3D images are shot only in 2MP and the quality is not that good.

HTC Evo 3D Video

The phone captures 3D videos up to 720p in both 2D and 3D. We were highly disappointed to find that the phone is not capable of capturing 1080p videos. The videos captured are smooth and they are shot in .MP4. The quality of the videos is quite decent.

HTC Evo 3D Connectivity

One gets a solid set of connectivity options with Evo 3D. The phone supports both 2G as well as 3G network. The 4G performance was also quite good and we were easily able to connect using 4G. Download and upload speeds on 3G was 172-256 kbps and 91-107 kbps while that on 4G was 1139-1170kbps and 60-61 kbps respectively. Local connectivity is boosted by the presence of Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP. One also gets full DLNA support. The HTC portable hotspot supports 8 devices. There is an MHL port through which you can get an HD video over a standard HDMI connection. The phone boasts of the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread web browser which offers great processing power. The browser also supports double tap zooming and text reflow.

HTC Evo 3D Multimedia

Multimedia performance of Evo 3D is quite decent. One gets an FM radio with RDS and the video and music player of the device is capable of playing videos and audio of a wide range of formats.

We found the phone to be stuffed with quite a number of accessories such as
